Getting past Grief

This grant provided materials for Harrisburg District Library on the topic of grief. All speakers donated their time for this project.

Getting Past Grief addressed the stages of grief; various onsets of grief such as loss of a spouse, loss of a child, miscarriage or stillbirth, loss of a pet or loss of a long term relationship; effects of grief such as insomnia and malnutrition, and ways to get past grief such as hobbies and support groups.

Speakers included Dr. Roger Lyons on grief and bereavement; Michele Reichardt on the importance of exercise and breathing; Kelly Gates on cooking for one person and other nutrional needs during times of stress; Janet Moye on the services of Eqyptian Health Department.   Frederica Garnett taught a new painting technique.

A pathfinder was developed to enable patrons to locate the grant materials by physical location in the library.

Dr. Lyons’ presentation was recorded and is available online at http://www.opal-online.org/archivehealth.htm Getting Past Grief is in two parts.
