This grant provided materials for Harrisburg District Library on the topic of grief. All speakers donated their time for this project.
Getting Past Grief addressed the stages of grief; various onsets of grief such as loss of a spouse, loss of a child, miscarriage or stillbirth, loss of a pet or loss of a long term relationship; effects of grief such as insomnia and malnutrition, and ways to get past grief such as hobbies and support groups.
Speakers included Dr. Roger Lyons on grief and bereavement; Michele Reichardt on the importance of exercise and breathing; Kelly Gates on cooking for one person and other nutrional needs during times of stress; Janet Moye on the services of Eqyptian Health Department. Frederica Garnett taught a new painting technique.
A pathfinder was developed to enable patrons to locate the grant materials by physical location in the library.
